Northern Kentucky University Soccer Stadium
The Kleingers Group’s sports division, Sportworks Design, provided survey and civil engineering services for the Northern Kentucky University Soccer Stadium. NKU’s $6.5 million athletic facility upgrades included lighted synthetic turf, seating for 1,000 spectators, concession areas, a locker room, training facilities, and other associated uses.
The synthetic turf field was constructed on uncontrolled and unclassified backfill that had been previously dumped into a ravine and was over 30 feet deep in some places. This required significant regrading of the site to integrate the facility. A series of retaining walls were designed in coordination with the structural engineer to navigate the steep hillside.
